Kenya Road Safaris Departing Mombasa
Road safaris” are wildlife tours that start from Mombasa (or nearby beach towns like Diani, Nyali, or Malindi) and travel by road—usually in a safari van or 4×4 Land Cruiser—to Kenya’s famous national parks.
These tours let visitors staying on the coast combine beach relaxation with game viewing in nearby parks like Tsavo East, Tsavo West, Taita Hills, and Amboseli without needing to fly.
How They Work
Pick-up:
The safari company collects you from your hotel or residence in Mombasa (or Diani Beach, Nyali, etc.).
Drive to the Park:
Tsavo East: about 3–4 hours from Mombasa.
Tsavo West: about 5–6 hours.
Amboseli: about 7–8 hours.
Game Drives:
Once you enter the park, your driver-guide takes you on game drives to spot wildlife such as elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, and more.
Overnight Stay:
You’ll sleep inside or near the park in a lodge or tented camp, depending on your package (budget, mid-range, or luxury).
Return Trip:
After your final morning game drive, you return to Mombasa (or continue to another park or beach).
